THOUGHTS: On Yoga

Hey friends!  The past couple weeks have been sort of a whirlwind of work work work, and meet this deadline here, and go there, and do this and that.  Needless to say, I've been neglecting ME for awhile now...  Not a great thing at all.  But I've been slowly trying to take steps to improve myself.

My relationship with yoga began a few summers ago.  I was looking for an activity that got me moving + out of the house (as I was living with my parents over a summer break from university).  I was going 3 or 4 times a week, because well, I had the time,  access to a car, lots of friends that wanted to come with me... and everything just kind of clicked.  This went on for a solid 3 months.  I really fell in love with it, and began developing a practice.  Then I went to Europe for two weeks with Pedro, moved back to university, started back at my part-time mall job.. and fell back into my old habits of not doing much at all.

This week, I started practicing yoga again.  I'm hoping that along with providing me with physical fitness, it will also help me add more balance to my life.  And through meditation - hopefully I can clear my head, and draw all sorts of inspiration from the yogic practice.

There is a studio called, Breathe Yoga Studio, right by my house!  Yay!  So I bought the month long introductory package ($40.00 for a month of unlimited yoga - pretty awesome, right?), and have already tried out a couple of the classes.  I was a little over-ambitious with my first class, but am getting into the swing of things now.

It's been a really interesting experience.  Being away for so long, and trying to get back into it.  My favourite pose is definitely still Pigeon's Pose.  Mmmm.. yes.  To be honest - I feel relaxed.  I feel rested.  I feel invigorated.  I feel a new lust for life.  In a word, I feel fantastic.

SO GLAD I decided to go back.  I highly recommend Breathe Yoga Studio if you're looking for yoga classes in The Junction.  The staff are sweet, and friendly, and the teachers are wonderful, knowledgable, and so willing to help you in your practice.

Namaste, friends.  Enjoy your evenings.

PHOTO LOVE: Throwback Thursday

Hello friends!  It certainly seems like this week has just flown by, doesn't it?  I guess that's just time in general though, you turn your head and it's been a year.

Since it is Throwback Thursday, I thought I would share some old photos of summer days past to brighten up this dull + rainy day.  Enjoy my messy hair and wacky outfits.  Oh the 90's.. I was really into mixing prints back then.

Hope you enjoy my little trip down memory lane!

At the zoo in '92! I really like the palette of my outfit.  If you can't tell, I'm the little one with the blonde hair.  I'm sitting with my cousins Marie + Laura @ the Toronto Zoo near the bears (judging from the sign).

My friend Sarah + I at the beach in 1994.  Again the colours on my bathing suit are all sorts of awesome.

Chilling on the dock.  I'm rocking a jailbird chic look. Note my messy hair + face (this lasts through 1999).  I'm sitting with family friends.  We were at their cottage in Lagoon City, on Lake Simcoe.

I think this photo is from 1996.  My aunt was visiting from North Carolina (she opened a B&B in Asheville, NC).  I had just finished playing soccer.  Two of my aunts, my mom, my grandmother, my cousin + my sister are also pictured.
