TUNED IN: 20 Flight Rock

Good morning Internet!   Hope you're having a lovely Tuesday.  TUNED IN is back this week! I know, it's been awhile, right?

This week's track is "20 Flight Rock" by Vic Ruggiero.  Vic is in one of my all-time favourite bands, NYC ska legends - The Slackers.  I've seen him tour with The Slackers, and solo - and it's always a great time.  So incredibly talented.

Now this song is actually from 1956, and was originally performed by Eddie Cochran.  It's a rockabilly standard and has been performed by everyone from Paul McCartney (apparently he auditioned for The Beatles with it), to The Rolling Stones, and even Tiger Army!  "20 Flight Rock" is fun + fuelled by rock 'n roll.  It can be appreciated by music lovers of all ages - but mostly (and most importantly), it just makes me want to dance.

TUNED IN: Chemistry

So I've decided to change the title of my poster series, to the "Songs From My Youth Project".. I thought it would be a lot less limiting, as I was feeling blocked by the title.  Anyways, I think it will be a lot more fun this way, and allow me to feature different genres.

This week's track - Jawbreaker's, "Chemistry". AHHH, "Dear You", is one of my favourite albums of all time.  And "Chemistry" is just so.. high school.  Kind of makes me feel nostalgic - but also really happy, because I'm not 17 anymore.  So much drama.  I wish I could tell my younger self that none of that stuff matters in 2 years, 5 years, or 10 years later.

But you know what lasts - the music.  I still listen to this album ALL the time.  Pedro + I bonded over loving this album when we first started dating.

Fun fact: I have a "Dear You" tattoo that I got when I was 20.
