Tuned In

​Welcome to the second POLKA DOTTED PIXELS, Tuned In post!  Continuing with The EMO Project​, here is Poster #2.

This second poster is inspired by one of my favourite bands ever, Brand New.  I've been listening to this band, for jeez, over 10 years now.  I feel so old, haha.  But seriously, I've watched the band grow and progress (and seen them live about 6 times) over the course of the last decade, and it's so interesting to see how their sound has changed. SOCO AMARETTO LIME ​is the last song on Brand New's first album, YOUR FAVORITE WEAPON​.  It always kind of makes me sad - the song is about nostalgia - but also brings up old feelings for me.  However, I love it nonetheless.

Tuned In

Hello!  This is my first "feature post" here on POLKA DOTTED PIXELS!  Every Tuesday, there will be a Tuned In​, music themed post.

When I was in high school and university, I worked at a store that sold music and movies.  It wasn't exactly like my High Fidelity/Empire Records ​fantasy job, but I met a lot of really awesome people, and got sweet discounts on a massive CD & DVD (and vinyl) collection.

​Anyways, for those of you who didn't know - Tuesday is new release day.  I have a very special relationship with Tuesday...  Special memories include: cheap movie night, checking out the new releases with my dad at the record store as a kid (literally, every week), and then being the person that was stacking the shelves (and getting to hear the new stuff early).

I started a little personal project inspired by songs from my youth.  Now don't judge me, but I used to LOVE songs of the so-called "emo" persuasion.  Tattooed boys screaming about their broken hearts was just my thing I guess.  So here is the first Tuned In, Part 1 of the "EMO still-in-progress-haven't-thought-of-a-real-name-yet POSTER series" for your viewing pleasure! Yay!
